Canadian Judicial Council releases a report to mark 50 years of service to Canadians

As 2021 draws to an end, the Canadian Judicial Council has taken stock of its 50 years of service in a special report to Canadians.

Committed to ensuring that Canada has a highly trained, professional and independent judiciary, the Canadian Judicial Council has worked since 1971 to protect and enhance public confidence in the judiciary.

“Canadians expect that judges will deliver justice with integrity and respect, diligence and competence, equality and impartiality,” noted the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, Chief Justice of Canada and Chairperson of the Canadian Judicial Council in his personal message to readers. “This commemorative report entitled 50 Years of Service to Canadians is an opportunity to inform Canadians of the ongoing work of the Council to ensure that these expectations are met”.
